Thousands Of Brits Undergo BOTOX® Treatment Every Year To Reduce The Appearance Of Laughter Lines And Furrowed Brows

However scientists have discovered another use for the anti-wrinkle treatment. Not only can it be used to reduce the effects of ageing and stop hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), but BOTOX® can now actually improve your mood as well.

Researchers at Cardiff University investigated the effects of cosmetic treatments on the mood of 25 volunteers.

Out of the group a number of them underwent BOTOX® whilst others had laser surgery, cosmetic peels and numerous other treatments designed to make the skin look younger. All of the groups felt that their treatment was particularly effective, but those given BOTOX® said they felt much happier.

Researchers believe that our expressions affect our mood, so when we wrinkle our brows when annoyed it only reinforces our irritation.

Therefore by stopping the face from frowning, BOTOX® actually makes patients feel happier.

David Ross, chief executive of The Hospital Group, said: “Despite the recession, our clinics have reported a surge in the number of BOTOX® treatments conducted across the country.

“For many years we have noticed the positive effect the treatment has had not only on our patient’s appearance, but also their mood. Patients leave our clinics in high spirits which we feel contributes to their numerous return visits.”

The Hospital Group, one of the country’s leading cosmetic surgeries, provides a vast number of age preventative treatments across its 19 clinics throughout the UK.

The Group saw an incredible 226 per cent increase in the number of non-surgical procedures performed in 2008. A total of 5,200 treatments were carried out across the group last year with treatments such as Botox®, hyperhidrosis and facial peels rising in popularity.

Since The Hospital Group was established in 1992, it has grown from a small pharmaceutical company to one of the UK’s foremost cosmetic surgery providers. The Group is committed to providing the very highest standards and all procedures are performed by an expert medical team in state-of-the-art facilities that are second to none.

Sweaty Summers A Thing Of The Past

The virtues of a colourful summer wardrobe are extolled by many a style expert. But many men and women across the UK have little choice but to reach for something in black or white – for fear of the embarrassment caused by their excessive sweating.

Sweating is a natural function to control body temperature, but for some people excessive sweating – or hyperhidrosis – can occur for no apparent reason.

The severity of the condition varies from person to person and the underarm area is usually the main area affected. Wherever the condition strikes, excessive sweating can prove problematic socially and professionally.

The condition comes about when the sympathetic nervous system, which controls involuntary responses such as sweating and blushing, fails to regulate sweating. But The Hospital Group can provide relief for those suffering from the affliction with its BOTOX® cure.

The BOTOX® treatment involves a series of injections in the affected area, which prevents the release of the chemical acetylcholine from the nerve fibres that stimulate overactive sweat glands.

The non-surgical procedure takes only half an hour and the patient will see a dramatic improvement that lasts for around six months.

Recent Reports Show That Brits Are Increasingly Spending More Money On Their Looks

Therefore it’s no surprise that plastic surgery clinics have reported an increase in non-surgical procedures such facial peels, fillers and Botox®.

Botox® is just one of many procedures which has increased in popularity over recent years. Many high profile celebrities such as Britains Got Talents, Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell are big Botox® ambassadors, having several sessions a year.

The treatment itself involves the injection of purified protein into the chosen area, which then reduces the activity of the muscles that cause the formation of wrinkles over time.

Botox® has now been taken a step further and can even prevent excess sweating, also known as hyperhidrosis. A series of injections in the treated area, usually the underarm, will gradually decrease levels of perspiration until it practically stops for the next six months.

Recent studies have shown that despite the credit crunch hanging over our heads, it hasn’t affected the growing demand for non-surgical procedures such as Botox®, facial fillers and chemical peels.

Kylie has finally revealed the secret of her vitality – regular Botox injections

She has long been known for her age-less looks, but Kylie has finally revealed the secret of her vitality – regular Botox injections. The pint-sized popstress admitted the secret behind her youthful looks was Botox and other age-defying treatments.

In an interview with Elle magazine, the 40-year-old said: “I’ve tried Botox, I’ve tried them all. I’m definitely not one of those people who says ‘You shouldn’t do this.’ Everyone individually can do what they want. I also think it doesn’t have the stigma that it had when I was growing up.

“For all time women have wanted to, for the most part, look their best. It’s just that what we have available to us today is – what it is today. And if you want to take advantage of it, yeah.”

Kylie’s perfect complexion has sparked many rumours over the years. One cosmetic surgeon has publicly claimed that, in their opinion, as well as Botox, she has had her cheeks and lips cosmetically enhanced.

The Hospital Group, the UK’s leading cosmetic surgery provider, performs many non-surgical age-defying treatments at its clinics, including Botox anti-wrinkle treatment, facial fillers, skin peels, hyperhidrosis and mole removal.

Kylie’s revelation has provoked commentators to point out her seemingly frozen forehead and eyebrows. However, The Hospital Group’s Juvéderm facial fillers plump up the appearance of laughter lines, frown lines and other wrinkles for the more natural look when used alongside Botox anti-wrinkle treatment.

As well as these non-surgical procedures, The Hospital Group performs other age-defying surgical treatments such as face and brow lifts. Other surgical procedures such as rhinoplasty, otoplasty, eyebag removal and eye lifts complete The Hospital Group’s age-beating treatments.

The Harley Medical Group Reports Boytox Boom

The Harley Medical Group, the UK’s largest cosmetic surgery provider, has reported an increase in professional men aged 25-30 years, having Botox across its 26 clinics, with men accounting for 20% of all Botox patients. ‘Boytox’ is increasingly being used as a preventative treatment by men who want to stay fresh-faced, despite living hectic lifestyles. Botox is now the second most popular non-surgical treatment with men At The Harley Medical Group.

Dr Nick Milojevic, Botox doctor at The Harley Medical Group, said:”Young men in the City have been spending a lot of time frowning over the last year and we’re seeing the fallout. Men coming into the clinics are telling us that they want to stay looking wrinkle-free despite their demanding lifestyles. Many of my younger patients opt for ‘Baby Botox’, a lighter variation of the treatment that uses extremely low doses of the toxin, giving a subtle and natural effect.”

Botox injections are also increasingly used to treat hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) to prevent the embarrassment of slippery handshakes, underarm sweat patches and dripping brows. Botox injections freeze sweat glands to stop perspiration in the palms of the hands, soles of the feet, underarm and chest areas.

In 2008 The Harley Medical Group also saw an overall increase of 6% year on year in Botox treatments.

The group’s Chairman, Mel Braham, advised that all patients ensure that their non-surgical treatment is carried out by a qualified professional. All patients at The Harley Medical Group, which has been established for over 25 years, undergo an initial consultation with a fully qualified Cosmetic Surgery Nurse Counsellor.

The Harley Medical Group reveals UK employers are beginning to offer staff botox leave to prep for parties

Most people have heard of ‘duvet days’ and even Christmas shopping leave. Now some businesses are introducing ‘Botox leave’ in a bid to deter employees from taking sick leave for their pre-party beauty treatments.

Cosmetic surgery provider, The Harley Medical Group has reported that enquiries for Botox treatments have increased by 21% over the last six weeks, and has noted that a number of businesses have introduced ‘Botox leave’ to cope with increase demand from their staff looking to take time off for beauty sessions. Businesses have introduced two hours leave to ensure staff can make their annual appointment for the £210 jab with their Botox Doctor without taking unauthorized leave.

Recruitment company, Blue Skies, said; “Companies are right to be inventive with their incentives. Although ‘Botox leave’ is certainly quirky, if people are adopting this incentive there is obviously a call for it. In the current market, giving people time off for endeavours that suit their lifestyles can be a cost effective way of incentivising staff if budgets do not stretch to other more obvious benefits”.

Liz Dale, Director at The Harley Medical Group said; Enquiries for Botox increased rapidly in November and December as people want to look their best for the Christmas parties. We think ‘Botox leave’ is an interesting incentive to offer employees and have seen a number of patients particularly in our Chester, City and London clinics who have been granted time away from the office for their injections.”

Stephen Fox, Managing Director of Fox Kalomaski, the marketing and advertising agency, commented; “We noticed a demand amongst our staff for a day off in the run up to Christmas to not only pick up their Christmas gifts, but also to make appointments for their hairdressing, beauty and particularly Botox treatments. We now offer all staff a day’s leave in December and have unofficially called this day”Botox Leave” because we’ve heard rumours that this is what people do with this day – to make sure they’re looking their best for the Christmas party photos”.

The Harley Medical Group, Has Revealed That The Demand For Boob Jobs Is Booming But Huge Boobs Are Out

The Harley Medical Group has revealed that while breast surgery is proving to be hugely popular, many women are opting for a more natural look than the all-up-front look sported by Page 3 and glamour models

Nurse counsellors across the Harley Medical Group‘s 23 UK clinics questioned women who’d recently undergone breast surgery during, page three model, Nicola McClean’s tenure on celebrity reality TV show, “I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here”. Women were asked what they think of Ms. McClean’s self proclaimed “lovely jugs” with the majority of those questioned giving the glamour model’s chest a firm thumbs down.

Of 121 women questioned, 99 (81%) said that they though her breasts were just too overblown and artificial looking. Instead, the women said they would opt for a more natural look, reflecting the ‘less is more’ attitude now taken by other celebrities including Jordan and Ulrika Jonsson.

This attitude is backed up by figures from The Harley Medical Group, which show 75% of women who have had a breast enlargement in the last six months opted to go up just one or two cup sizes. The figures from the Harley Medical Group also reveal that boob jobs remain the most popular of all cosmetic surgeryprocedures, making up 30% of all procedures across its 23 clinics.

Director of the Harley Medical Group, Liz Dale said: “Breast enlargement has always been top of the ops we perform. It’s a very personal choice and if a ballooning bust is what Nicola wants then good luck to her. However, over the last five years we’ve really noticed that huge breasts are out and instead women come to us looking for a natural result, not a ‘look at me’ statement neckline, which can sometimes cause too much attention.

“In fact, the most popular cup size requested is a C cup and 80% of our patients opt for just a one or two cup size increase. Contrary to popular belief, most cosmetic surgery patients want to fit in – not stand out.”

The new breed of breast enlargement patients, keen to keep things in proportion, are plumping for the “lower profile implant” in preference to two other available breast implant shapes – the “round high profile”, which produces a more rounded appearance to the upper breast and the “contoured” breast implants, which are designed to reflect the slope of the breast.

Sarah McLaughlin, a Harley Medical Group patient from Leeds, had a breast augmentation, increasing her bust size from 32A to a 32C. She said: “I couldn’t stand my flat chest and I’d planned to get a boob job for a while but I was wary of it looking too obvious – particularly as there are lots of men in my line of work. A C cup is perfect for me, giving me a sexy but subtle shape. Now I can dress my boobs up or down, depending on the occasion.”

The Harley Medical Group Reports Laser Hair Removal Peaks As Patients Look To Take The Hassle Out Of Christmas

The Harley Medical Group – the UK’s largest cosmetic surgery provider – is reporting an all-time high in Laser Hair Removal bookings, as patients look to take the hassle out of Christmas. The stress of juggling work, family commitments and Christmas shopping has led to a boom in the procedure with bookings up by 25% throughout November.

Jennifer O’Callaghan, a Laser Hair Removal patient, said: “I’ve just had Laser Hair Removal for the first time after a colleague recommended I give it a try. With three children, a full-time job and Christmas coming up, I simply don’t get the leisure time to sit in the bath and groom myself. Since having the treatment I’ve been able to throw out my razors, epilator and hair removal creams – it’s fantastic”

Clinic staff at the Harley Medical Group‘s 23 clinics across the UK say they’re increasingly seeing patients who want to look as young as they feel, particularly as competition for jobs becomes fiercer during the credit crunch.

Liz Dale, Director of the Harley Medical Group, commented: “People are looking for ways to keep themselves one step ahead of their colleagues. Most patients think aboutcosmetic surgery for many years and office competition simply acts as a catalyst.”

She added: “It’s not just older patients who cite this as a reason, many of our patients at the City clinic, especially men, are using cosmetic treatments such as Botox to take years off their looks giving them increased confidence and, they feel, an edge to their looks. It appears that, like older workers, they feel it’s important to invest in their looks, despite cutting back across other areas.”

The Harley Medical Group Reports Rise In Tummy Tuck Ops For Weight Loss Patients

The Harley Medical Group, the UK’s largest cosmetic surgery provider, has seen a dramatic five year rise in patients undergoing body corrective surgery to cope with the after effects of extreme post obesity weight loss. Dubbed “Post Obesity Surgery” (POS), various surgical procedures such as tummy tucks (abdominoplasty), male breast reduction (gynaecomastia) and breast uplift (mastopexy) are booming as patients book in for body corrective surgery to treat their post obesity bodies.

Data taken over the past five years from The Harley Medical Group, which has conducted more than 10,000 POS procedures over this period, shows that tummy tucksare up 31%, male breast reductions are up 24% and female breast uplifts are up 18%.

Mr Frati, a surgeon at The Harley Medical Group, cites the UK’s obesity epidemic as the cause for this boom. With 21% of men and 22% of women in the UK being classed as clinically obese, which is predicted to rise to a quarter of all adults in 2010*, The Harley Medical Group estimates the abdominoplasty procedure alone will overtake breast augmentation as the clinic’s most popular treatment over the next ten years.

A patient of The Harley Medical Group patient, John Wright from Lincolnshire, who had a tummy tuck operation plus gynaecomastia (male breast reduction) after he lost 22 stone commented: “After the immense effort and hard work of loosing so much weight it was utterly soul destroying to see vast folds of skin hanging from my body. My local GP wouldn’t refer me to have cosmetic surgery on the NHS and so I was forced to go private. I used almost £10,000 of my savings, but I think it was worth every penny.”

Lisa Littlehales, head nurse at The Harley Medical Group, explained: “It’s heartbreaking to see patients who have achieved so much to lose dramatic amounts of weight so embarrassed by their post weight loss bodies. Surgery is able to transform both their bodies which have been so vastly overstretched and in the process restore their confidence.”

She added: “Many patients describe how they wish they had addressed the problem before they became obese, but talk of the creeping nature of obesity – slowly moving from being simply over weight to clinically obese over a ten year period. Many feel let down by healthcare professionals and feel strongly that the government’s focus on educating the public on healthy eating and exercise routines is long overdue and also needs far greater focus and outreach work.”

Bookings For Surgery Amongst 45-65 Year Olds Booms, Second Marriages As Their Main Motivation

According to The Harley Medical Group, the UK’s biggest cosmetic surgery provider, bookings for surgery amongst 45-65 year olds doubled in 2008. When explaining why they’d opted for ‘silver surgery’, patients from The Harley Medical Group’s 23 UK clinics cited second marriages as their main motivation.

Liz Dale, Director of The Harley Medical Group, commented: “Many patients have thought about surgery for a long time and when they come out of a long-term relationship it can be part of their start afresh strategy. Cosmetic surgery helps give our patients renewed confidence as they embark on new relationships and second marriages. We also see many patients using Botox to help keep their appearance fresh when they have a younger partner.”

With second marriages now accounting for one in three marriages in the UK, a desire to look their best walking up the aisle the second-time round is encouraging patients to book in for procedures to dilute the ravages of time. Popular pre-nuptial procedures with middle-aged women include Blepharoplasty, Brow Lift, Breast Uplift, Botox and Face Lift. Top ops for men include Rhinoplasty and Otoplasty, which are often chosen to alter a feature they’ve long been unhappy with.

Liz Dale continued: “It’s not only the demand for cosmetic surgery that’s changing, it’s also the perceptions associated with it. Twenty years ago the majority of our patients wouldn’t tell anyone about their surgery; it would be a complete secret. Now the majority are happy to share the details of surgery with their families and friends.”

The Harley Medical Group is the UK’s largest cosmetic surgery provider, performing more procedures and with more clinics than any other cosmetic surgery provider. Surgicare Has Added A Chest Rejuvenation Procedure To Their Portfolio Of Treatments

SurgiCare, one of the UK’s leading cosmetic procedure providers, has added chest rejuvenation to its portfolio of treatments, following large demand for the procedure across the US.

Chest rejuvenation uses Botox to correct the tell tale signs of sun damage and wrinkly skin on the décolletage and has proved to be a popular new breast treatment in the US, with many predicting a similar response upon the introduction of the procedure in the UK. However, Surgicare are taking the treatment a step further, using filler technology rather than Botox for its procedures.

Using advanced Restylane Vital technology SurgiCare is able to combat the signs of ageing and sun damage for its patients by injecting the clear hyaluronic acid (HA) gel into the skin to replenish the skin’s own HA levels, adding volume, hydrating the skin, and softening lines and wrinkles.

Restylane Vital is a new development in skin rejuvenation, providing deep hydration and moisturisation from within to improve skin tone and health. It stimulates the production of collagen and elastin to keep skin looking plump and hydrated, diminishing the appearance of fine crêpey lines caused by sun damage.

Mark Bury, chief executive for Surgicare said: “The trend for Botox based chest rejuvenation in the US has created a demand in the UK. However we’ve found that Restylane Vital has proven to be much more effective than Botox for rejuvenating the neck and chest areas as it actually fills and plumps up the wrinkles, as well as diminishing the appearance of sun damage.

“Although Botox is effective in the treatment of wrinkles on the face such as smile and frown lines, it loses much of its effectiveness when treating deeper wrinkles and sagging of the skin caused by ageing and sun damage. Restylane Vital is able to achieve this natural vitality as it actually re-nourishes ageing skin with some of the hyaluronic acid it has lost over the years.”

Resytylane Vital chest and neck rejuvenation treatments are non-surgical and daily activities can be resumed immediately after treatment. A course of 2 to 3 treatments a few weeks apart is initially recommended, although patients may opt to have more treatment courses in future if they choose.

The Harley Medical Group Announce Postcodes Predict UK Surgery Preferences

Following a data crunch of 400,000 postcodes of cosmetic surgery patients, The Harley Medical Group, the UK’s largest cosmetic surgery company, has revealed the UK’s cosmetic surgical capital. Newcastle has been officially announced the top of the ops of the UK – with more cosmetic surgery procedures and treatments per capita than any other UK city.

Unsurprisingly, London came in second place with looks conscious Essex folk from Chelmsford coming in third place in the UK’s Cosmetic Surgery Postcode Charts, produced by The Harley Medical Group.

Other cosmetic surgery hot spots were Bristol, Southampton, Cardiff and Manchester. Top procedures for each cosmetic surgery postcode were also identified with Breast Augmentation popular in Bristol as well as Newcastle, while London claimed the title of Botox Capital of The UK.

Liz Dale, Director at The Harley Medical Group said: “We started the data crunch in order to identify the best locations to open our next five clinics and the data team started to see very strong cosmetic surgery postcode trends appear – with patients happily travelling up to three hours to their nearest clinic. Postcodes can now been seen as a clear indicator as to how likely someone is to have cosmetic surgery, and even where there is an increased likelihood towards certain procedures.”

The results also revealed the further North a patient lives, the bigger the cup size, as patients in Newcastle, Manchester and Leeds, as well as Cardiff and Bristol on average 47% more likely to have a Breast Augmentation than any other region. London is officially The Botox Capital, with Londoners 71% more likely to opt for the wrinkle removing jab and the City clinic using 200% more vials of the Botox toxin than any other clinic. In the south coast town of Brighton, non surgical Laser Hair Removal is the order of the day especially amongst the clinic’s male patients, who account for 43% of the treatments.

In Birmingham and Bristol more tonnes of fat are removed by Liposuction than the rest of the country. Brummies are also 60% more likely to opt for the eyebag removal op – Bletharoplasty. The Irish are losing inches thanks to tummy tucks and breast reduction surgeries with residents in Belfast being 35% and 72% respectively more likely to have these ops than any other region. Those living in Nottingham are 52% more likely to go under the knife for the perfect nose.

Chester residents, home to many WAGs, are most likely to opt for top to toe packages. They’re 38% more likely to have a Face Lift. They also buy two thirds more packages of non surgical treatments including the Y-lift – a combination of Botox and Fillers – an alternative to a Face Lift.

Newcastle Clinic manager, Anne Newby added: “We’ve seen patient numbers increase by 27% since last year as the demand across both surgical and non surgical treatments increases. Whilst

Breast Augmentation is the most popular op, patients, aren’t necessarily increasing cup size dramatically – a C cup is the norm.”
