Quoteboffin.co.uk Welcomes New Research on the Prevention and Treatment of Alzheimer’s

A study published in The Journal of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology has suggested that the eating habits of those suffering from Alzheimer’s may have an effect on their cognitive abilities.

The research involved two groups of mice being fed two different diets over the course of 5 months. A precious study had shown that foods rich in methionine – an amino acid – were able to increase the symptoms of dementia within mice, and as a result scientists deduced that it may be effective in the increased risk of developing Alzheimer’s.

The most recent study sought then to determine if the methionine induced effects could be counteracted and even reversed. For 3 months one group of mice was fed a methionine filled diet, whilst the other group ate a healthy, balanced diet. The mice on the methionine diet were then introduced to a healthy menu, and the results were analysed after another 2 months.

The scientists found that the negative effects suffered following the 3 month period eating the amino acid had been reversed. The discovery demonstrated the capability of the brain to counteract the damaging effects it has endured. However, the study is far from conclusive, not least due to the fact that the test subjects were mice.

There is uncertainty regarding the applicability of such results to humans.

Rebecca Wood, chief executive of Alzheimer’s Research Trust commented on the findings, reminding us that:

“This research is on mice, but the Alzheimer’s Trust is supporting work looking at the effects of this type of diet on people. We look forward to the results but at the moment we don’t yet know if this type of diet could have beneficial effects for people with Alzheimer’s.”

Health insurance comparison site Quoteboffin.co.uk have given their backing to the research findings, insisting that:

“Any investigation into the causes and potential treatments for this disease are crucial, as research is the main tool we have in the battle against Alzheimer’s.”

Another piece of research carried out recently, revealed that people with larger craniums possess better cognitive abilities, including memory and thinking skills. 270 patients were recruited for the trials, the results of which were published in the Neurology journal.

Regular Exposure To Agricultural Pesticides Might Increase The Risk Of Parkinson’s Disease

Regular exposure to agricultural pesticides might increase the risk of Parkinson’s disease (PD), according to a study published in Archives of Neurology. More exposure to pesticides means a higher chance of the neurological illness, research reports.

“While the causes of PD are still not clear,” says Kay Mixson Jenkins, author of the new children’s book Who Is Pee Dee?, “hardcore chemicals used for treating crops can’t be that good for people in any event.”

Ms. Jenkins was diagnosed with Parkinson’s when she was just thirty-four. She decided to write her book to help her children understand this devastating disease. The story follows a young boy named Colt as he tries to deal with his mother’s chronic illness.

Based on National Parkinson Foundation estimations, almost 1.5 million Americans currently have PD. It’s the second-largest neurological disorder (after Alzheimer’s) in the United States.

The illness typically develops later in life and often impairs motor skills, speech and other functions.

Many scientists and researchers believe that environmental factors can be linked to the illness:

• Aberdeen University Medical School found that people exposed to high levels of pesticides were forty-one percent more likely to develop the condition compared to people who had never been exposed; those exposed to low levels were thirteen percent more likely.

• Environmental Health News reports that the rates of Parkinson’s disease appear higher among farmers and rural residents.

• A Danish cohort study found an increased risk of Parkinson’s disease in agricultural workers.

• Emory University reported growing evidence suggesting that exposure to pesticides increases the risk of Parkinson’s disease.

• Researchers from UT Southwestern Medical Center found that people with Parkinson’s disease have significantly higher blood levels of a particular pesticide than healthy people.

“I hope studies and facts like these will help bring the government’s attention to the environmental problems our society faces today,” says Ms. Jenkins. “If we can simply protect our environment and be greener, who knows? Maybe the number of Parkinson’s cases will go down.”

In addition to writing Who Is Pee Dee?, Ms. Jenkins is a leader in a nationwide effort to raise awareness about PD. As the founder of Parkinson’s in the Park, an affiliated chapter of the National Parkinson Foundation, Ms. Jenkins has created an outreach program that encourages families and friends to participate in the treatment of PD patients.

Kay Mixson Jenkins is also the Georgia state co-coordinator for the Parkinson’s Action Network, leads the Effingham County Parkinson’s support group and was selected as a Parkinson’s patient advocate for UCB, Inc.

Who Is Pee Dee? Explaining Parkinson’s Disease to a Child by Kay Mixson Jenkins is available on Amazon.com.

A New Smile A New You For 2010

During 2008 and the last year the teeth whitening industry has continued to grow in the wake of the worst financial and economic downturn for many years and this is likely to be due to the fact that people are spending more money on personal grooming, botox, gym memberships and cosmetic surgery to make them look and feel better through these troubled times.

It is difficult to read any magazines or view TV makeover shows without teeth whitening being mentioned or featured and this is likely to continue as we enter 2010 as the range of teeth whitening products and services seem to give consumers the choice to suit their budgets and personal requirements.

One company who has continued to grow is White Teeth Company – (http//:www.whiteteethcompany.co.uk) who have grown their range of clinics across the south of England. Marketing Manager Jason Scott comments that the growth is due to customer demand and many of our clients are referred from previous customers.

Teeth whitening products can range from a few pounds for home whitening kits purchased in supermarkets or online to more professional services like laser teeth whitening. Technology have helped develop the industry allowing the treatment to only take just over one hour and can be undertaken in one visit.

Teeth whitening is perfect for anyone who have stained teeth caused by lifestyle staining including smoking, red wine, coffee, tea, cola, curries etc etc. Most staining on the teeth will build up over a matter of time as the enamel absorbs the colorants in our daily diets and changes the colour of our teeth.

Like any service customers are looking for the combination of competitive prices, maximum convenience and obviously the best results possible and this is going to be the challenge for the fledgling industry during 2010.

Lower Eye Surgery Gains Popularity with Women

The Hospital Group has reported that lower eye surgery is becoming increasingly popular amongst women. More lower eye surgery procedures were performed than upper eyelid lifts in 2009, as well as there being a larger percentage increase in the procedure over the past 5 years.

The appearance of loose droopy skin under the eyes can be very ageing and give a“sad” look to your face. Sun and smoking can accelerate the signs of ageing, while others are more prone to inherit the condition. This condition can easily be remedied with a simple eyelift procedure.

Eye bag removal is a common and simple plastic surgery procedure which can deliver dramatic results, making the eye area look more youthful, attractive and alive. The procedure is becoming increasingly popular in men as well as women. The Hospital Group can help you achieve a more bright-eyed, wide awake look.

A spokesperson for The Hospital Group, said: “THG Comment: – “We see more patients in need of eye bag removal than eye lift surgery and this procedure is a lot more popular. Eye bags can also be caused through stress, smoking and genetic factors.”

The Hospital Group is one of the UK’s leading providers of cosmetic surgery, number one in obesity surgery and tummy tuck experts. So whatever your requirements, you can rest assured in the safe hands of the professionalism and experience that THG has to offer.

Since The Hospital Group was established in 1992, it has risen to become the UK’s biggest weight loss surgery providers, performing more gastric band procedures last year than the NHS. The Hospital Group is committed to providing the very highest standards and all procedures are performed by an expert medical team in state-of-the-art facilities that are second to none.

Breast Reduction Surgery on the Increase

The Hospital Group has reported that the number of women choosing to have a breast reduction has gone up by 78% since 2005.

The main reason for considering a breast reduction, or reduction mammoplasty is that an over generous bust size can be distressing or uncomfortable.

Large breasts can often be the cause of significant physical discomfort and self-consciousness. Breast reduction surgery could significantly help to relieve the constant backache or shoulder pain associated with big breasts.

Regarding the reductions, a spokesperson for The Hospital Group, said: “We have seen a noticeable rise in women wanting to feel less self-conscious about their bodies. A lot of women with naturally large breasts are embarrassed because of their size and feel insecure as they can attract a lot of unwanted attention.”

The Hospital Group is one of the UK’s leading providers of Plastic Surgery, number one in Obesity Surgery and Breast Enlargement experts. So whatever your requirements, you’re in safe hands!

Since The Hospital Group was established in 1992, it has risen to become the UK’s biggest weight loss surgery providers, performing more gastric band procedures last year than the NHS.

PhytoCeuticals has developed several formulations, including stabilized liquid L-Ascorbic Acid in 1994. The company had distributed these products through Cellex-C, SkinCeuticals and IS Clinical. PhytoCeuticals permitted these companies the use of these scientific publications, clinical trials and research citations to support the marketing of PhytoCeuticals formulations.

Dr. Omar has stated that, “The acceptance of exchanges of IS Clinical new products for PhytoCeuticals PHYTO-C products was initially a courtesy to patients who thought they were still purchasing our formulations. It is my ethical duty to help and treat these patients – which is more important then making a profit. But we must be fair.”

PhytoCeuticals is currently is unaware of any controlled clinical testing, stability testing or research undertaken by IS Clinical with respect to the products it has been selling since July 1, 2008.

Dr. Mostafa Omar stated, “Normally a clinical study and testing of a new formulation takes at least 5 years or more before a product is launched into the marketplace. To the extent that IS Clinical claims that it has undertaken extensive research in connection with its products, customers should confirm that the research cited is genuine and not proprietary research using authentic PhytoCeuticals formulations.”

Long Term Care Insurance Still Possible

There’s no ifs, ands or buts about it—senior citizens will need some kind of long term care at one point in their life, 75 percent to be exact. The problem, however, is that coverage can cost upwards of $70,000 a year, a sum many seniors don’t possess. Fortunately, a recently published article on InsuranceAgents.com reveals that there are ways to still obtain affordable long term care insurance.

Long term care consists of a wide array of health and support services such as personal care and assistance with all daily living activities. The cost of such services depends on many factors, particularly the type and amount of care needed, the healthcare provider and the area in which a person resides in.

The sooner a person obtains long term care insurance, however, the more affordable it will be. The article, “Long Term Care Insurance: How To Save Big,” suggests to senior citizens seven different ways they can save on long term care. Some of them include:

1. Obtaining health insurance quotes for long term care and comparing policies, rates and providers

2. Applicants should apply with a spouse, as many providers will offer a major discount for couples who seek coverage together.

3. While the cost is as low as it’s going to get, try to get as much coverage as possible—weigh benefits against cost and remember that maximum coverage will come in handy down the road.

4. An applicant’s membership in a group—like AAA, or a homeowners association or alumni organization, for examples—may get lower rates, too.

5. Seeking tax credits or tax deductions. The federal government rewards those who invest in long term care insurance.

Senior citizens on the hunt for affordable but extensive long term care insurance should first and foremost obtain free health insurance quotes online before sitting down with a health insurance agent.

Breast Lift not Enough Anymore

The Hospital Group has reported that during 2009, more than twice as many women have opted for a breast lift with implants, as opposed to just a breast lift.

A mastopexy or breast lift procedure suits women whose breasts may be pendulous as a result of a relaxation of the ligaments due to weight loss, age or having children. The actual size may be fine but the breasts have lost their volume and tone or the nipples may point downward. However, if extra volume is required then a breast uplift procedure may be combined with implants for the best overall result. This has become an increasingly popular method for rejuvenating the appearance of the breasts.

A spokesperson for The Hospital Group, said: “A breast uplift with implants has become more of a popular option with women wanting to increase the size of their chest as well as the shape”

Those looking to undergo the procedure are sure to achieve better results that ever before. Modern breast implants are available in a variety of types and sizes. You can easily achieve the look you are after with by consulting with one of the many expert surgeons available.

Diet Pill Risk to Health

Dieters looking for a quick fix have been warned against popping mineral pills – after researchers found they increased the risk of heart disease.

The supplement selenium has been hailed by diet gurus as the miracle solution to shifting stubborn fat. The tablets contain antioxidants which some believe can also help to cut the chances of developing cancer.

But researchers at Warwick University found that too much selenium can cause cholesterol levels to rocket.

Using the mineral increased the risk of heart disease by 8 per cent and researchers have now called for a ban on the supplement. Although there is no speedy steps to lose weight, The Hospital Group can provide clear and concise advice for those wishing to undergo weight loss surgery.

The Hospital Group, the UK’s biggest provider of weightloss surgery, has seen a 73.9 per cent increase, with a staggering 12,848 people seeking surgery in 2008. In 2007, 7,385 people enquired into gastric procedures.

The surgery, including gastric band, gastric bypasses and gastric balloons can be used alongside liposculpture – also known as liposuction – and adominoplasty – the common tummy tuck– to sculpt and perfect your body and give you a healthier lifestyle.

Such is the interest in The Hospital Group’s weight loss procedures, bookings have increased to levels above that of the NHS. While the NHS reported that it had performed 2,724 weight-loss operations in 2008, The Hospital Group performed a total of 3,015 gastric procedures in the same period.

Women Are Still Lusting After The Perfect Body Shape With The Hourglass Figure Proving Most Popular

The Hospital Group has seen a dramatic increase in women plumping for breast enlargement, with women citing voluptuous celebs such as Kelly Brook, Eva Mendes and Megan Fox as having the figures they admire most.

With Kelly Brook hitting the headlines in a new poster campaign which has been doctored to better cover up her E-cup assets, The Hospital Group reports that the majority of female patients look to go up just two cups sizes.

Women who want to achieve the curvy yet classy and natural look can choose f r o m a vast range of Allergan implants at The Hospital Group; including revolutionary Natrelle. With a range of over 500 implants in the Natrelle range, the patient has a choice of four projections and gel types as well as a number of textured and smooth surfaces, allowing a more natural and individual breast enhancement.

A total of up to 36 measurements are taken during the computer-aided consultation, followed by a discussion of the patient’s individual requirements for a very accurate selection of implants. The patient then has the opportunity to “try on” the implants using unique vest-type garment with specially designed inserts to simulate the effect of a breast augmentation.

David Ross, chief executive of The Hospital Group, said: “Women often want to increase their breast size, whilst achieving a natural look and feel.

“This fabulous new technology allows patients to actually see the difference our bespoke implants will have on both posture and appearance before undergoing any form of treatment. This in turn ensures patients will be completely satisfied with the proposed enhancement”.
