A New Smile A New You For 2010

During 2008 and the last year the teeth whitening industry has continued to grow in the wake of the worst financial and economic downturn for many years and this is likely to be due to the fact that people are spending more money on personal grooming, botox, gym memberships and cosmetic surgery to make them look and feel better through these troubled times.

It is difficult to read any magazines or view TV makeover shows without teeth whitening being mentioned or featured and this is likely to continue as we enter 2010 as the range of teeth whitening products and services seem to give consumers the choice to suit their budgets and personal requirements.

One company who has continued to grow is White Teeth Company – (http//:www.whiteteethcompany.co.uk) who have grown their range of clinics across the south of England. Marketing Manager Jason Scott comments that the growth is due to customer demand and many of our clients are referred from previous customers.

Teeth whitening products can range from a few pounds for home whitening kits purchased in supermarkets or online to more professional services like laser teeth whitening. Technology have helped develop the industry allowing the treatment to only take just over one hour and can be undertaken in one visit.

Teeth whitening is perfect for anyone who have stained teeth caused by lifestyle staining including smoking, red wine, coffee, tea, cola, curries etc etc. Most staining on the teeth will build up over a matter of time as the enamel absorbs the colorants in our daily diets and changes the colour of our teeth.

Like any service customers are looking for the combination of competitive prices, maximum convenience and obviously the best results possible and this is going to be the challenge for the fledgling industry during 2010.

Orange Juice And Teeth – A Rotten Cocktail

A refreshing glass of orange juice with your breakfast might not be quite as beneficial as you once thought.

Recent studies have revealed that some juices are so acidic they erode teeth enamel with every sip. Dr Yan-Fang Ren, of the Eastman Institute for Oral Health, reported that the acid in orange juice ‘is so strong that the tooth is literally washed away’.

Using a revolutionary vertical scanning microscope for the first time, the researchers were able to see the extensive surface detail on teeth.

Such juice-drinking has further, negative implications; the unnatural acceleration of erosion of the teeth that it causes substantially increases the risk of development and spread of tooth decay.

However, for those among you on a quest for healthy, pearly whites, fear not! The Hospital Group, one of the country’s leading plastic surgery providers, offer a range of dental treatments in its specialist cosmetic dentistry clinics located around the UK.

Teeth whitening, pain-free veneers, white fillings and porcelain crowns are just a few of the popular treatments available at the NuSmile dentistry treatment centres across the country.

Since The Hospital Group was established in 1992, it has grown from a small pharmaceutical company to one of the UK’s foremost plastic surgery providers. The Wohrle Dental Implant Clinic and Dr. Peter Wohrle are now able to offer patients Same Day Dental Implants at their Newport Beach California Dental Implants Clinic

BACKGROUND: About 22 million people in the United States have dentures or no teeth at all. Dental implants can offer a welcome alternative for those who want to regain their smile. The first modern dental implants hit the scene in the 1950s, and they’ve improved quite a bit over the years. Dental implants provide a base for replacement teeth that look and function like natural teeth. The implants are tiny titanium posts that are surgically placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. The bone grows to the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth.

According to the American Dental Association, the number of implants placed by dentists increased 49 percent between 1995 and 1999.

STANDARD IMPLANTS: Typically, dental implants are done in two surgical procedures. The dentist will have to refract (peel back) the gum tissue to see just where the implants will go to avoid sensitive nerves. When the proper placement is decided, the dentist will then place the implants into the jawbone. For the first three to six months following that surgery, the implants, which are just below the surface of the gums, bond with the jawbone. While the implants are bonding with the jawbone, new replacement teeth are made by the dentist. When the implants are fully bonded with the jawbone (again, a process that takes up to six months), the dentist is ready to fit the new teeth. The second procedure you undergo includes uncovering the implants and attaching the posts that act as anchors for the artificial teeth. The teeth are then attached to those posts. The entire process takes up to nine months to complete.

NOW, FASTER, EASIER IMPLANTS: Now, dentists are offering an innovative way to give you dental implants and teeth in a one-hour office visit. At an initial patient visit, doctors take a 3-D image of the patient’s jaw using an iCAT machine. When used with new computer software, the images show dentists the exact anatomy of the patient’s jaw, finding even the smallest amounts of bone. Dentists can plan the surgery with pinpoint accuracy using these images and eliminate any potential problems before the patient even arrives at the office for the procedure.

Peter Wohrle from The Wohrle Dental Implant clinics in Newport Beach, California says, “with this new technique, we can treat patients more efficient, with less pain, and more accuracy” Most procedures are done by cutting open the gums. No cutting means less trauma and less pain for the patient. When the patient comes for their implants, it takes about an hour to insert the implants and attach the teeth. Dr. Wohrle says: What used to take months, we often can accomplish now within hours, with much less trauma and better results.”

Dr. Nelly Silva DMD Is A General Dentist Providing Aesthetic And Reconstructive Dentistry With A Focus On TMD Therapy

TMJ Treatment and Relief Center of Pennsylvania – located in the heart of Collegeville just next to Trappe and Phoenixville. Pennsylvania Dentist Dr. Nelly Silva DMD formally opens their doors and is currently accepting new patients.

Dr. Nelly Silva DMD is a general dentist providing aesthetic and reconstructive dentistry with a focus on TMD therapy. Dr. Silva treats her patients with compassion and skill, taking care to listen to their individual concerns and providing them with a comprehensive approach to their care that includes specific customized solutions utilizing the very best that modern dentistry has to offer. Dr. Silva provides options whenever possible and his guests are asked what they want, not told what they need. In addition to general family dentistry, Dr. Silva has extensive training and experience in comprehensive aesthetic dentistry (including Invisalign, veneers, and smile makeovers) and neuromuscular dentistry (including TMJ treatment, pain relief, and full mouth reconstruction).

What is TMJ?
Temporomandibular joint disorder (also known as TMJ) is a chronic degenerative disease that may take years to develop. People who suffer from TMJ have a structural imbalance in their jaw-to-skull relationship that is caused by poor bite. This condition puts excessive pressure on the joints and surrounding tissues, twisting the jaw into an unnatural position. Often, a popping of clicking sound can actually be heard when a TMJ sufferer chews. Muscles in the face, back, neck, and shoulders may also be affected, leading to symptoms that range from headaches to numbness in the hands.

Symptoms:
You may be a candidate for neuromuscular dentistry if you experience any of the following symptoms on a regular basis:
• Headaches or Migraines
• Pain or soreness around the jaw joints
• Facial pain
• Neck, shoulder or back pain
• Numbness in your fingers and arms
• Congestion or stuffiness of the ears
• Worn, chipped or cracked teeth
• Cracked, chipped or broken dental restorations
• Unexplained loose teeth

Neuromuscular Treatment:
TMJ can now be easily and painlessly detected using state-of-the-art electrical muscle stimulator or TENSing unit and a sophisticated piece of equipment called the Myotronics K7. Your facial muscles will be exercised, built-up toxins will be released and your jaw’s optimum relaxed position will be determined. To correct your bite, Dr. Nelly Silva will most likely use dental restorations to precisely raise or lower areas of your jaw into a more neutral position. In most cases, they can reposition your bite and complete treatment in a few short weeks.

Results:
Following treatment to correct TMJ, most patients experience significant lessening to a complete cessation of symptoms. Imagine living headache free after enduring the pain for years! And as an added bonus, most patients of Dr. Silva also report positive aesthetic results – some are even asked if they’ve had a facelift.
